THE PROBLEM
The powder-coated steel of a J-hook chews through latex like sandpaper. One banded squat session and you've got a frayed line waiting to snap. Replace the band — or replace the hook.
Latex meets metal edge under tension. Friction wears the rubber down stripe-by-stripe until it fails — usually mid-rep, usually loud.
The sleeve gives the band a radiused, polished plastic surface to ride on. No metal edge. No fraying. Bands last as long as the latex itself.
HOW IT WORKS
Same principle as the strap softeners riggers use to protect lifting straps from sharp loads. We just engineered it for J-hooks instead of crane hardware.
The sleeve slips over the hook tip and seats flush against the upright. Takes 5 seconds per side.
Run your resistance band around both HookHuggers like you would around bare hooks. The plastic surface is the only thing the latex touches.
Banded squats, pull-up assists, hip thrusts, accessory work. Pull as hard as you'd pull on the band itself — the sleeve isn't the weak link.

PETG is the right plastic for a part that lives on a steel rig under tension. Tougher than PLA. Better heat tolerance. Won't get brittle in a garage that hits 110°F in July.
Polyethylene terephthalate glycol — UV-resistant, impact-resistant, dimensionally stable from −20°F to 160°F.
One sleeve for each J-hook on a standard rig. Identical, ambidextrous, swap them between hooks freely.
Designed for standard 2×3 rack hardware. Confirm hook geometry against the sizing photo before ordering.
